SoundTowel app: a 7-day plan to bring your speaker back
Planned for iOS and Android. Not released yet.
One round of a cleaning tone clears what sits in the speaker grille today. What is further in takes longer: Apple says water in the port can degrade speaker sound until it completely evaporates. The SoundTowel app is planned as a 7-day cleaning plan that comes back to the speaker on each of those days, and a push reminder tells you when the next session is ready.
Why one round is often not enough
Water keeps drying for hours
Apple says a wet iPhone connector can take up to 24 hours to dry fully, and a muffled speaker stays muffled until the water evaporates.
The real check comes later
Sound right after a splash is not the final answer. A check on a dry phone, days later, tells you whether anything is left.
Dust keeps collecting
Pockets and bags keep adding grit to the grille, so a clean speaker today is not a clean speaker next week.
The 7-day cleaning plan
Each session has its own sound. The next day opens on the following calendar day, and a push notification tells you it is ready, so the plan doesn’t depend on remembering.
| Day | Session | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Water removal | Basic cleaning frequencies for water and dust you can see in the grille. |
| Day 2 | Deep clean | Several frequencies in one session for what the first day left behind. |
| Day 3 | Intermediate cleaning | A lighter session on medium frequencies to keep the speaker clear. |
| Day 4 | Speaker check | A functional test of the speakers after three cleaning days. |
| Day 5 | Detailed diagnosis | A closer check for remaining particles and uneven sound. |
| Day 6 | Pre-finish clean | A quick refresh for new dust. |
| Day 7 | Performance check | A final clean and check of the speaker. |

What you can use today
Everything on this website works now, without an account. The water eject tone plays 165 Hz for a muffled speaker after water, the speaker cleaner adds a low-frequency dust mode, and the speaker test checks left and right channels with a full sweep. On Android, the vibration test checks the motor.
